Hello, uhm i have a problem with the chevron... is there a possible way that i could do a chevron with just doing foward knots?
ReplyDeleteNo, you have to do both, its really easy once you practice. I had the same problem when I first started doing friendship bracelets, but now I can any pattern.
Deleteyes you can, i had the same problem, but my backward nots looked so neat and tidy and my forwards were the opposite. all you have to do is set it up so when it comes to doing the knot you're bad at, turn the whole bracelet around, that way its backwards and you'll be doing forwards instead of backwards
DeleteYou need both forward and backward knots. Forward knots will only head to the right.
ReplyDeleteActually, if they don't mind turning it backwards, they can still make the chevron pattern with just forward knots. =D There's a variation of the candy stripe that has that same technique that creates a zigzag effect. Anyhow, I've been making these kinds of bracelets for quite some time and I'm enjoying broadening my knowledge of the patterns. thanks!
DeleteShould I start at the top of the tutorials and work my way down.
ReplyDeleteYes, starting at the top would be the best.
Deletethank you
Deletei seriously love you videos!!! they helped me soo much.
ReplyDeletei love your videos!!!
ReplyDeleteWell made site. Direct and informative. The same goes for your videos. Thanks a whole lot!
ReplyDeleteMAJOR beginner here. My son and I were trying to follow your videos,(which we love, great instructor!) and we wanted to try the candy stripe. We chose our 4 colors, cut them 65" long, folded them in half to tie the loop at the top and realized, instead of the 4 strands or 1 color each as shown in the tutorials, we had 8 strands (obviously 2 strands per color.) instead. I know this must have a simple answer but we just want to do it right. Please help.
ReplyDeleteYou take the very first string on the far left and work towards the right. If you have eight strings the first one on the left (lets call this number 8) will go over strings 7-1 from closest to string 8 (which would be 7) all the way over to string number one. You can use the same method for any number of strings.
DeleteHi, I have just started making this friendship bracelet:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.dannijo.com/images/Friendship%20bracelets%20440.jpg
Your post helped me through the diamonds part, but then I got stuck... Could you please help me understand the pattern of this bracelet? Thanks.
I been knew how to make most of them we do the same things but jus kinda different styles an i get most i my ideas from u but i have like way more ideas den u but in ur videoes b4 u start i think u shuld jus get rite to it like u talk TOOOO much srry jus wanted to help u an ur voice kinda erks me so i jus want u to get rite to it but thnx 4 all the ideas!
ReplyDeleteHow would you know how many ideas I have exactly? I don't post everything I can do and to be quite honest the things I post are by request not by what I want to do. People ask, I show them. Have you seen the octopus bracelet that I created the pattern for? That is more my style. I was going to make it bigger but I figured it would be too thick on the wrist.
DeleteAnyway... you bragging here for no reason is pretty petty and annoying as well so you've really no place to judge me for my voice or anything else.
Lastly- perhaps learn to type properly. If you spelled properly you would sound much more educated and less like a twelve year old. (Unless you are twelve, in which case you have some nerve trying to one up someone who has 15 years more experience than you do.)
Have a lovely day.
It ERKS me when people try to be bad ass but can not spell.. or use their words correctly.. oh and post things anonymously.
Deletethats so mean!!!
DeleteShe doesn't talk 'to much' she does it efficiently It's very easy to understand and she doesn't need to talk less at all. She's not perfect and so aren't you. Her voice is just fine and if it 'erks' you then why don't you just go to a different tutorial. Don't judge her by her voice because you don't know her.
Delete...another you-know-what from the sewer. ;( why can't people just shut the F up? dork can't even spell right, blah! i just Love your reply Lisa..now that's tellin' 'em. ;) p.s. i love your beautiful voice. ♥
DeleteIm i need help please
ReplyDeletei have done this for almost 5 years and i have always done it right to left how do i go left to right like i know how to but i dont get how to backwards knots i know how to forwards not back ward and i love your videos there flipping Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! just saying :)
Right to left is (supposed) to be backward knots. Left to right is forward from what I've learned/how I've learned.
DeleteCheck my video on "The Four Types of Knots" and you may get some more help from it. Good luck. <3
Hi there! First of all I just want to say your videos are amazing and you're soo good at it. :) I do have a question though and it's probably silly. But, I've just started my first one and I know how to end it, with the 2 braids, but I'm kind of confused as to when I should stop with the pattern and move on to the braids. If I remember correctly I think you said there should be 3 inches of braid, so would I just stop when I had around 3 inches of string left? I hope someone hasn't asked this already and I'm just annoying you. :p Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteYou could stop when you have about three inches of string left but if you are making it for yourself I'd say wrap it around your wrist to test the size and base it off of that.
DeleteWhen you wrap it around your wrist the pattern edge should meet the loop comfortably- once it's that long it should fit you well enough to start the ties.
I love your videos... and thanks for helping me understand some patterns ;)) but i have one question ...
ReplyDeleteCould You do tutorial of this pattern ?
http://friendship-bracelets.net/pattern.php?id=1718
i'll be grateful ...
my brother wants a bracelet with Croce can you help me? I am a beginner and i liked vary much your videos but I also make origami so patience is my middle name.

ReplyDeleteI dont think she does looming,(If she does I apologize!!) There's many tut's on youtube that can help you with this.Just type "looming" and a bunch of video's will pop up for you, hope that help's :) *And if there is Looming in Beyond Bracelet "I AM SOOO SORRY) :(
Deletecan you help me with the pretzel knot bracelet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6nGKJd51IE

ReplyDeleteciau ciau
ReplyDeleteI'd just like to say thank you for all the new things you taught me throught your videos. Im an 11 year old trying to learn how to make better bracelets then just plats, then I learnt how to do lots of knots for bracelets with my guide pack and I was a bit stuck with what patterns to make. You have really helped me make all the different types of bracelets. I subbed too :D
ReplyDeleteI made my first bracelet and I don't know if I did something wrong. The bracelet came out really stiff. If I just held it, it would just stay there without flopping. Did I do it wrong? Or is it normal? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi. I really like your videos. I'm from Portugal and there's a bracelet that i really like that you can see in this link: http://www.google.pt/imgres?hl=pt-PT&sa=X&biw=1280&bih=630&tbm=isch&prmd=imvnso&tbnid=yeHrtJHuGCOqmM:&imgrefurl=http://www.nowmagazine.co.uk/fashion-news/533422/buy-harry-styles-and-caroline-flack-s-links-of-london-love-bracelet&docid=2df2GyotFUgRqM&imgurl=http://default.media.ipcdigital.co.uk/11140%25257C00001b9da%25257C1fbe_Links-Of-London-bracelet.jpg&w=360&h=480&ei=rjz0T_eJKouDhQezzYXXBg&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=450&sig=104109667191557055538&page=1&tbnh=137&tbnw=101&start=0&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:6,s:0,i:89&tx=65&ty=78
ReplyDeleteI was wonder if you could do this and make the tutorial please. Thanks!
Hi I´m Mia, I love your blog you are an excellent teacher and I can easily understand everything you are saying. I only have one question what would you recommend me as the better type of string to use that is both resistent and doesn´t split in the middle??
ReplyDeleteThank you! :D
Hm... You can try craft thread but I find it is weaker and tends to snap if you aren't gentle with it. You can try to continue using embroidery floss (I assume that is what's splitting on you) and just add a dab of white glue or tacky glue to the very tips to keep them held together. Good luck.
DeleteThank you very much, i will follow your advice and see how it goes. also i would like to make another question. i saw this pattern in that wwebsite that you gave us the link to and im seeing that its has lots of squares meaning needs lots of strings. isnt that going to make the bracelet to wide? if so how can i make it smaller?
DeleteTnak you
Hey! I REALLY REALLY REALLY L<3VE YOUR TUTORIALS! :D but, I was wondering if you cound do a bracelet with an alpha pattern?? cause my friends are asking me to make them some, and i'm having trouble figuring out what should be the positions of the strings, so yeah... please help me! :D like, with this kind of bracelet: http://www.braceletbook.com/pattern_alpha/6109.html
ReplyDeletePlease and thank you :D
I have a major problem when I make letters, when i switch to the letter color, and i make the necessary knots, it all piles up on the background string. Am I doing this wrong? It is on the letter W. Ps, im an expert at bracelets like this, very advanced. I've always had trouble with lettets though!
ReplyDeleteWow. All can really say is wow. This blog is amazing! Thank you. I have learned how to do so many bracelets!!!
ReplyDeleteHi, I really love your tutorials. Very clear and easy to follow. I've learned a lot from you since finding you on youtube. But I have a question that is probably really stupid. Why do my bracelets all roll up when I wear them? You can't see the patterns that took me so long to make. Am I knotting to tight, too loose? Am I making them too long? It's really driving me crazy!!! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSounds to me like you're making them too tight. When you make the knots you should be pulling with the tension you would use while (gently) braiding hair.
DeleteOkay, thank you for getting back to me. It is frustating that they don't lay flat. They end up looking like I just have a roll of string tied around my wrist. LOL
DeleteHi BeyondBracelets!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say that I really love your bracelets. I use your tutorials all the time. I have so many bracelets I have made from your videos. I have never seen someone with so many awesome bracelet designs (I make a new bracelet almost everyday). Thanks a lot!!!
Kaitlyn
Hi. I've been watching your videos and they are really good and extremely helpful, so thank you for taking the time to make them. I was wondering, could you make a tutorial on how to do the bracelet buckel?
ReplyDeleteThank you advance
Hey! just wanted to say thanks for the awsome videos :) Question for you, how do you start your alpha bracelets? also with alpha braclets, when I do my non weaving colour, (letter)I find when there is more that a couple knots being tied onto the weaving string wont stay tight and I wind up getting ugly loose, double knot things. How can i avoid this? what I am I doing wrong? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHello!! First I would like to say how much I enjoy all of your tutorials & instructions. You truly have a gift when it comes to explaining things so that people understand them. On July 4th, PattieAlex requested a tutorial be made on the Links of London style bracelet. I am desperately trying to learn to make this myself as well. I was able to find instructions on friendship-bracelets.net under "Linked Raft Logs Bracelet", however, that person's instructions are a little hard to understand. I was wondering if maybe you could simplify them for us & redo them with your teaching methods.... Pretty, Pretty Please!!!! I can't tell you how much I would appreciate it!!! Thank you!!
ReplyDeletenice instructions and there good!!
ReplyDeletebut i want to make one, only i dont know how the name is...
this is the picture: http://weheartit.com/entry/23001616

ReplyDeleteam so inspired of all your fantastic art work keep it up!!! am working on a two color alpha method back and forth elephant bracelet having some issues with it an no videos on how to correct or fix so hope u can help. i added the two strings as if they were joining colors not sure if that was right however coming along good until i got to the ears an think somehow switching of colors messed me up..... pleeez help me this is a special gift o someone. even if you could do a mini video on it would help..... also would love a mushroom pattern the sam no videos on that as well thank you so much swtnikii@aol.com
ReplyDeleteI'd have to see what messed you up in order to help... if you could send a picture or upload a small clip showing what you did/what happened I may be able to understand better.
Deleteyou are so very good at explaining things! Great blog!
ReplyDeleteHello, I'm a spanish girl. I speak a little of english, but I understand all your videos. I love them.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your tutorial (=
Hi! I'm a beginner in the friendship bracelets (never made one) and I would realy like to know some of the easiest ones. The candy stripe is one that I am going to do first but I would like to know another easy beginner one.
ReplyDeleteI posted already about me going to make the Candy Stripe bracelet.. I DID! :D It turned out realy nice and my sister wanted me to make her one and I just finished it and she loved it! Even my mom wants me to make her one! (: Your tutorials are awesome and easy to understand!
ReplyDeletethe bigginnings of my braclets are a bit triangular, unlike yours which are rectangular. how do i fix that?
ReplyDelete_kit*kat_
You may need to try pulling upwards a bit more when you start the knots.
Deletethank you so much!
DeleteWhen I do the Candy Stripe the beginning never turns out right :| Is it supposed to be like that?
ReplyDeleteYou may need to adjust how tightly you pull and make sure there are no knot flips which could occur if you pull too tightly. It should have angled rows that are stacked neatly and the "knot bubbles" should all be about the same size.
DeleteHi, i just spent a couple of days at girl guide camp with my daughters. They want to make these friendship bracelets now but to be honest I couldn't understand the instructions while I was there. Your website has saved me and made my daughters think that their dad might be the best dad in the world. Thanks so much.

ReplyDeleteHi i just wanted to know what kind of string you used because i recently purchased some and the kind i got kind of separates like the strings dont stay together....what do you suggest i do?
ReplyDeleteI use six stranded embroidery floss. Sounds like that is what you are using. They also make this stuff called "Craft Thread" which acts more like yarn but I have found it is more easily broken from the friction of making knots.
DeleteHey! I think your videos are so helpful! They are so much easier to follow than the other ones. I am kind of new to the alpha bracelets and wanted to know if you could help me understand how to make this one. http://www.braceletbook.com/pattern_alpha/6421.html
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how to switch the colors, how long the string should be, or the order they should be in. I really want to learn how to make this bracelet, so if you could make a video for me, I would love you! Hahahaha. Thanks so much!

ReplyDeletenyc keep it up
ReplyDeletehi i was wondering what kind of material you use to make your bracelets? like what kind of string do you use. embroidery floss?
ReplyDeleteHello, I'm from Romania, and I'm in love with your bracelet...you are the best!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a good teacher. You explained things to where everyone can understand. Thank you for your videos. I do have one question how long should the finished bracelet be (not including the braids). Should the knots touch or should there be some space. Thank you again you do beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteThe length depends on your wrist size... for 65" (inches) generally bracelets will be roughly 6.5 inches without ties, 9 or so inches with. It also depends on the pattern- more strands requires a bit longer to compensate. I usually do +5 inches for every 5-6 strands over 16ish.
DeleteHi, I am having trouble with the anchor braclet! Do you need to fold the hAlf white one with the rest of them??? Please help!!:)
